How Environmental Change is Affecting Our Mental Health (And What You Can Do About It?)

It was around 2 PM when Mayur was sitting in front of a psychologist and was telling how he became a victim of depression. The doctor asked him about his bad habits, like drug addiction, bad eating habits, or any physical activity that made him a victim of depression.

Mayur said that he has never consumed any intoxicant till date, neither are his eating habits bad; in fact, he takes a lot of care of his food and drink compared to others, and neither does he indulge in any physical activity that may cause depression.

The doctor then discussed with Mayur his family history - whether any of his parents or grandparents in his family had ever suffered from depression. Mayur said, "No, I am the first person who has been a victim of depression."

After asking so much, the doctor asked Mayur to take medicines and said, 'Don't worry; you will be fine.' But a question started going around in Mayur's mind: If none of the things the doctor asked are the reason for my depression, then what else is there? So, out of curiosity, he asked the doctor this question.

The Hidden Cause of Bad Mental Health: It’s Not What You Think!

The doctor was silent for a while, but then she told Mayur that "Mayur, in today's time, more than 90% of people are suffering from depression or bad mental health, and it is not connected to their food or lifestyle but to something else.

Mayur said, 'Something else? What do you mean?'

The doctor said, 'I mean, people are getting depressed because of Environmental Change.

The environment around us is deteriorating so rapidly that we are not even aware of it, and we are becoming victims of diseases like depression. Earlier, pollution was mostly prevalent in big cities, but now it has reached smaller cities and rural areas; it has even reached our food items and technology, i.e., our mobile and laptop.

Most food items are not produced organically but are produced from harmful chemicals. These days, they are being sold as 100% pure. Even technology is becoming so addictive that most youths use their gadgets even while eating or doing something as simple as having a bowel movement.

Due to which their entire lifestyle is getting spoiled. These are all such things that seem common to us; in fact, we do not even pay attention to these things, and these affect our health in a very bad way.

That day, Mayur realized why people nowadays are suffering from poor mental health despite taking good care of their health. People go to the gym, but still they suffer from mental health problems or some other kind of disease.

Mayur listened to the doctor very carefully, and after being silent for a while, he said, "Doctor, if there is so much pollution in everything, even in food items, should we stop taking care of our health?"

The doctor said, "No, Mayur, if we stop taking care of our health, then we will become victims of pollution more rapidly. We have to take care of our health, but along with that, there are some other things which we should take care of.
